Up-cycle clothes: Embroidery

I had this dress I bought at a thrift store for about a couple bucks, and initially, I really liked it as it was- a Cream, sleeved sheath. In real life, I never really wore it because it was sort of too boring. In addition to this, It was a petite size 8 (I believe) so it sort of fit me in some places and then it was too big in others and too tight in others...

After much debating, I decided I would test out my new love for embroidery on this dress and I'm still deciding if I want to make it into a top or crop top.

Before

This dress was uncomfortable for me in the arms- My shoulders were too broad for the petite frame of the dress, so my first move was to take off the sleeves.

I've been very much inspired by embroidery this past spring. I will forever love florals, so I got inspired by great embroidery pictures I saw on pinterest and on instagram.

My results:

I shaped the armholes a bit but kept the neckline the same and added embroidery

Sometimes its hard to figure out a color scheme, so I used some images of peonies that are in my design journal to inspire my colors.

So my next step is to  transform the dress into a crop top and possibly make a matching skirt with :)
